User Experience Architect
|
|
Position Purpose and Objectives:
|
|
As a User Experience Architect, you will be the driving force behind creating and implementing compelling, attractive and highly usable designs for public and internal websites, e-newsletters, and mobile apps (iPhone/iPad/Android).
Design projects will include existing web pages, e-commerce forms, publications (mainly digital, but potentially some print), mobile apps and other media.
When you're not coming up with creative and attractive new designs, you will be working both independently and as part of a team of web developers to implement the technical part of the design changes.

Essential Job Functions:
|
|
Identify and suggest design changes that will improve user experience and enhance consistency among fragmented web pages
|
|
Create highly detailed and accurate mockups of design changes
|
|
Work with web developers as necessary to handle any back-end processes necessary for design projects
|
|
Design and create new images as needed
|
|
Implement any HTML, CSS, JavaScript and/or jQuery changes
|
|
Make sure websites are easy to use and cleanly designed
|
|
|
Knowledge, Attributes, Skills and Other Characteristics:
|
|
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or technology-related field
|
|
Very comfortable with HTML, CSS, JS, jQuery and achieving cross-browser compatibility
|
|
Confident and capable in Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
|
|
User-cenrtic perspective
|
|
Able to work within a team and independently
|
|
Portfolio showing clean and compelling user interface design work
|
|
|
Desireables:
|
|
Experience or interest in iPhone/Android app design
|
|
Some experience with Perl/mod_perl or Ruby on Rails is a plus
|
|
|
Success Factors:
|
|
To be a successful User Experience Architect, you will have to have a vision for clean, user-oriented designs that are technically achievable. Sometimes you'll be working within an existing design, and other times they will have a blank canvas where you can show off. Either way, once a design is pinned down, you can get your hands dirty and make it happen.
